External Book Review from Thomas Schreiner: “From Genesis to Junia” by Preston Sprinkle (A Message On Recycled Tropes Against Complementarianism)

Dr. Thomas Schreiner is a scholar and theologian whom I respect due to his seemingly gracious but unwavering commitment to the Bible. Recently, I read his review of Preston Sprinkle’s From Genesis to Junia and found it to be a helpful and needed writing for a society that struggles to see value in the seemingly antiquated biblical views like women’s role in the family and church. In fact, I thought it was so helpful that I’m posting the link to it on my blog, something I rarely do.

Note: I have not personally read Sprinke’s recently-released work. Most works on the topic tend to revisit the same interpretive arguments that have been around for a while but are most prevalent the last century. So I’m not as inclined as usual to engage material first-hand. Furthermore, I’ve been exposed to the debate at hand, having read Two Views on Women in Ministry, having reviewed Eldon Jay Epp’s work on Junia, and having reviewed several scholarly articles and videos on the topic from various supporting and posing positions.

Without further ado, here’s the link to the Gospel Coalition’s Article from Dr. Schreiner.
