If you’ve never seen or heard Phillip Anthony Mitchell in the last 2-3 years, you’re probably living in seclusion or you aren’t on social media (which could be a good thing—see here). I briefly want to spotlight this preacher and pastor not because I know him well, but because I’ve been impressed by what I’ve heard from him so far. His passion, practical and Christ-centered preaching, sound doctrine (from what I’ve seen), and seemingly committed prayer life make him a breath of fresh air in an era that is starved for such Christian leaders.
Phillip Anthony Mitchell pastors a booming church and movement in Atlanta, GA, 2819 Church. The church’s name is based on the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, which reflects its intent to spread the gospel until everyone hears it. His messages are convicting, and often cause people to re-think their ungodly ideas and attachments.
You don’t have to take my word for it, here’s a YouTube Snippet.

As referenced earlier, I don’t know much about him besides what I’ve seen in social media circles, but by everything I’ve witnessed, he seems to be a solid leader and pastor. I love his reason for wearing black, as it’s a reminder that he’s crucified and it’s sort of funeral apparel (see here). I pray the Lord Jesus would continue to bless him, his family, and the ministry. May he be kept from the sin-ladened, arrogant, and unbiblical non-sense that plagues so many churches and preachers today.
